american ale

This is a beer from a recipe that my local homebrew store sells. The title it as similar to Sam Adams Boston Lager, but with Ale yeast.

Steep: 150 for 30 minutes. Sparged with .5 gal @ 170.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.057 4 gallons
5 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Corn sugar
Hops: 1 oz. Liberty (4.5% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Tettnanger (5.1% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (4.3% AA, 30 min.)
.25 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (4.3% AA, 15 min.)
.25 oz. Tettnanger (5.1% AA, 15 min.)
.25 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (aroma)
.25 oz. Tettnanger (aroma)
Yeast: re-hydrated Nottingham yeast
Log: Fermented 1 week. Dry hopped for 1 week, then moved to a keg for 1 week to settle.
Carbonation: Force carbonated
Tasting: The Nottingham had quite an affect that I was not anticipating. The beer tastes more like a Belgian ale - spicy. Good, but not the style I was aiming for - nothing like the Sam Adams that the homebrew store mentioned.
