Imperial Porter

Brewer: Brian Haubert Email: bhaubert@live.com
Beer: Imperial Porter Style: Brown Porter
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
110 HCU (~38 SRM)
Bitterness: 41 IBU
OG: 1.065 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 6.6% v/v (5.2% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. American black patent
Boil: minutes SG 1.100 3.25 gallons
8 lb. 8 oz. Light malt extract
This beer was brewed using the "extract late" method. Begin with only 4 lbs of liquid malt in your boil when adding your hops. With 15 minutes to go in your boil, add the remaining extract and bring back to a boil for the remaining time. This helps increase your hop utilization.
Hops: 2 oz. Cascade (6.9% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (6.5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Wyeast 1272 American Ale II
Tasting: Excellent rich, coffee, nut flavor. Best beer I've brewed to date (14th brew). Enjoy
