Brewer: Clamstalk Brewery (S.K. Murphy) Email: error23@gmail.com
Beer: Bitter Bottled Blond Style: -
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 6 gallons
Color:
14 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 46 IBU
OG: 1.065 FG: 1.018
Alcohol: 6.1% v/v (4.8% w/w)
Water: ATL City, baby!
Grain: 8 oz. German Cara-Hell 10L
4 oz. Gambrius Honey
4 oz. Belgian CaraMunich
8 oz. American Crystal 20L
Steep: Steeped the grains at around 150F in 2 gallons for 20 minutes or so, then rinsed/soaked them in one half-gallon of hot water. Added extracts/sugars to main kettle while the grains rinsed, then added the rinse water to the kettle. Used one half-gallon of hot water to get extracts out of their containers.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.130 3 gallons
7 lb. Light malt extract (Syrup)
1 lb. Extra Light dry malt extract
1 lb. 10 oz. Cane sugar
Boil went as usual; no special treatments or finings. Lots of hops on the top (or at least green foam from each hop addition that persisted for a while). The chilling took a while - used ice baths in the kitchen sink.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Chinook (11.2% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Perle (8% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Centennial (8% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Chinook (11.2% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Centennial (8% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Pitched directly onto a yeast cake from a Slimey Toad batch (second generation from Safale 05 ale yeast).
Log: May 8th/9th - Midnight brewing session. Got vigorous fermentation really fast.
