Alcohol: 6.0% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Grain: 1.5 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. American crystal 60L
.75 lb. American chocolate
.75 lb. American black patent
.5 lb. pale chocalte malt
.5 lb. Roasted barley
.5 lb. Flaked barley
.5 lb. coffee malt
Mash: 80% efficiency
put grains in 2.5 gallons of water w/ temp. at 161 and steeped at 150 for 45 minutes.
Boil: minutes SG 1.119 4 gallons
8.5 lb. Light malt extract
8 oz. Brown sugar
2.5 oz. Ghirardelli 100% unsweetened Chocolate
Added 2/3 of liquid extract and brought 4 gallons of wort to a boil. Added 2.5 oz of choc. and 8oz of brown sugar. Stir hard because choc. burns easy on bottom of kettle. 1 teaspoon of irish moss w/ 15 minutes left in boil.
Hops: 2 oz. simcoe (11.9% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Centennial (9.1% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Centennial (9.1% AA, 15 min.)
2 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: I used 2 Liquid Pacific Ale Yeast WP041
