ABITA AMBER CLONE

Abita Amber is a Louisiana Favorite. IF you are having a crawfish boil this is one beer that will be a hit!

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
15 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 18 IBU
OG: 1.040 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 3.8% v/v (3.0% w/w)
Water: Just filtered tap water but using spring water is more traditional for this brewery.
Grain: 0 lb. 5 oz. German Munich
0 lb. 8 oz. American crystal 40L
0 lb. 1 oz. American chocolate
Steep: Just use a muslin bag on the kitchen range with a 2 gallon pot.
Steep @ 150 for 30 minutes. Rinse with one gallon of 180 degree water but do not squeeze bag. You can even submerge your bag in the brew pot and let it rinse that way if you keep the water below 200. Take it out once it gets that high. boiling husks is BAAAAAAD!
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.057 3.5 gallons
5 lb. .75 oz. Light malt extract
Irish moss is optional but suggested.
Hops: 0.40 oz. Chinook (12% AA, 60 min.)
0.25 oz. Hallertauer Mittelfruh (5% AA, 15 min.)
0.50 oz. Perle (aroma)
Yeast: Wyeast 2206 is best. Starter recommended.
