Busted Weedwhacker Blonde

While not necessary, and polite purists will grumble quietly to themselves, the small amount of cane sugar lends a nice, suble caramel flavor without compromising crispness.

Type: All grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
7 HCU (~5 SRM)
Bitterness: 31 IBU
OG: 1.051 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 5.2% v/v (4.1% w/w)
Water: FIltered tap water + 1/2 tsp Gypsum.
Grain: 7 lb. Belgian pale
5.34 oz. Wheat malt
1 lb. 8 oz. German Vienna
Mash: 72% efficiency
60 minute infusion mash at 154°.
Sparge at 170° to make 5.5 gallons.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.046 5.5 gallons
6 oz. Cane sugar
1/2 tsp Irish Moss.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Liberty (4.5% AA, 60 min.)
.25 oz. Liberty (4.5% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Saaz (3.5% AA, 30 min.)
Yeast: German Ale/Kolsch
Log: Primary at 55° for 10 days.
Secondary at 45° for 14 days.
It's much better after at least three weeks of cold-conditioning.
Carbonation: 2.6 volumes Keg: 13.4 psi @ 40°F
