109 HCU (~37 SRM)
Bitterness: 10 IBU
OG: 1.048 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 4.4% v/v (3.5% w/w)
Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 120L
4 oz. American chocolate
5 oz. Roasted barley
8 oz. Rolled oats
Steep: Added 6oz semi-sweet chocolate and 16oz decaf coffee to boil.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.097 2.5 gallons
6 lb. Dark malt extract
Steeped grains in 170 water for 40 min, sparged with 160 water. Brought to boil added DME, Chocolate, Coffee, .75oz of Fuggles, boiled for 45 then added rest of hops.Pitched yeast at 80. Good fermentation after 5hrs. Racked into secondary after 3days, no bubbles gravity is 1.018. Stayed in secondary for several weeks, bottle with .66c white sugar. Added 5 oz lactose to half of batch. Poor head, not enough carb. Good smooth beer. 13Apr08, head getting better silky, chewy stout.






Hops: .75 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 60 min.)
.25 oz. Fuggles (4.75% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: White Labs Irish Ale
Carbonation: Primed with .66c sucrose. Added 5 oz lactose to half of batch.
Tasting: Beer got very very smooth and silky after 2 months in bottle.
