Mild Ale (Modified from northernbrewer.com)

Taken from a northernbrewer.com recipe and modified based on what was available at the LHBS.

Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5.25 gallons
Color:
34 HCU (~17 SRM)
Bitterness: 18 IBU
OG: 1.034 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 3.4% v/v (2.6% w/w)
Water: Used Poland Springs bottled water.
Grain: 2 oz. British chocolate
8 oz. British mild
4 oz. British crystal 135-165L
Steep: Grains in 3QT of 170F water for 30 minutes.
Sparge with 1QT.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.051 3.5 gallons
4 lb. 8 oz. Amber malt extract
0 lb. Light malt extract
Full 60 minute boil.
1st hop dosing added after 15m.
2nd hop dosing added after 55m.
Forgot Irish Moss.
Hops: .5 oz. Northern Brewer (7% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. East Kent Goldings (4% AA, 45 min.)
.5 oz. East Kent Goldings (4% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: Intended to Wyeast 1275 Thames Valley, but had to punt and use Wyeast 1056 American Ale.
Log: Brew Date: 07/03/2008. Expected first racking after 1 week, secondary for 2 weeks, bottle, and begin drinking 2 weeks later (brew-to-belly time: 5 weeks)
Carbonation: Carb with 140g corn sugar.
