Sierra Nirvana

Started out as a Sierra Nevada clone, but was pitched with Lager yeast by mistake. See "It Might be a Redhook if..." recipe for further details

Beer: Sierra Nirvana Style: American Pale Ale
Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
6 HCU (~5 SRM)
Bitterness: 50 IBU
OG: 1.071 FG: 1.009
Alcohol: 8.0% v/v (6.2% w/w)
Water: Spring Water, filtered, UV light treated
Grain: 11 lb. American 2-row
4 oz. American crystal 60L
.5 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash: 90% efficiency
Grains mashed at 125 degrees for 30 min. 160 degrees for one hour. Sparged at 150 degrees to make 5 gallons.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.078 5 gallons
1 tsp. Irish moss added at 45 minutes.
Hops: 1.5 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 45 min.)
1 oz. Perle (8% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Nugget (12% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: San Francisco Lager Yeast WLP 810
Log: 2 weeks fermentation at 65 dergrees.
Carbonation: 3/4 cup corn sugar
