Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

American Blonde ale. Took 2nd in Light Ale category in local 2008 comp.

Type: All grain Size: 5.25 gallons
Color:
3 HCU (~3 SRM)
Bitterness: 17 IBU
OG: 1.041 FG: 1.008
Alcohol: 4.2% v/v (3.3% w/w)
Water: 5.2 stabilizer added to normal public tap water
Grain: 8 lb. Belgian Pilsner
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash: 65% efficiency
multi step single infusion mash. initial hold at 122°F for 30 minutes, then raise to 145°F for 30 minutes, last rest at 158°F for 30 minutes. Mash out at 170 then slow sparge
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.034 6.25 gallons
Irish moss, if you want it, otherwise it'll clear in the bottle
Hops: .5 oz. Liberty (4% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Liberty (4% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: WYeast 1056
Log: Nice quick turn beer. 2 weeks in primary, then straight to the bottles for 2 week conditioning, followed by 1 week cold storage.
Carbonation: 2.4 volumes Corn Sugar: 4.41 oz. for 5.25 gallons @ 70°F
Tasting: Nice light easy drinking lawn mower type beer. Best when chilled to the lower end of "proper" serving temperature for an ale (40-45 ish).
