The Big O (Orange-Wheat)

Outstanding summer wheat, my favorite grass cutting beer!

Beer: The Big O (Orange-Wheat) Style: American Wheat
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
10 HCU (~7 SRM)
Bitterness: 21 IBU
OG: 1.068 FG: 1.028
Alcohol: 5.2% v/v (4.0% w/w)
Grain: 1 lb. Flaked wheat
Steep: steep grains until boil
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.097 3.5 gallons
6.6 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Light dry malt extract
1 lb. Wheat extract
Note that the LME is really wheat extract.
I also added 6 tablespoons of dried orange peel for 30 minutes.
Hops: 2 oz. Hallertauer (4.2% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Hallertauer (aroma)
Yeast: WLP 320 American Hefe Weizen
Log: 04/30/07 Brewed, I also added the zest from a dozen oranges in the fermenter.
05/13/07 Bottled 47 12 oz bottles
OG 1064 FG 1028 or 4.7% ABV
Carbonation: 5 oz priming sugar, may cut in half next time as all wheats seem to over carbonate with time.
Tasting: Outstanding taste and flavor, very refreshing.
