Predator Pale Ale

First 'real' batch!
(one batch of "Mr Beer" prior)

Beer: Predator Pale Ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
18 HCU (~11 SRM)
Bitterness: 45 IBU
OG: 1.060 FG: 1.011
Alcohol: 6.4% v/v (5.0% w/w)
Water: We have wonderful tap water!
No water adjustments.
Grain: 1.5 lb. American 2-row
.5 lb. American Munich
1 lb. American crystal 40L
Steep: Mini-mash grains @ 150F for 1 hour.
Sparge with 4 qts water @ 170F
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.101 3 gallons
7 lb. Light malt extract
Added 2 1/2 pinches of Irish Moss (dry) for
last 5 minutes.
Hops: 2 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
2 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 5 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 1 min.)
Yeast: Used #1028 London Ale Yeast "slap pack".
Pitched at 68F.
Log: 7 days in primary @ 72F.
7 days in secondary @ 70F.
Carbonation: 2.6 volumes Corn Sugar: 4.74 oz. for 5 gallons @ 70°F
Batch primed with 3/4 cup corn sugar boiled in 2 cups water, mixed in bottling bucket and bottled.
Tasting: Doing my best to wait 2 weeks before testing. The sample taken at bottling was very promising! Will report back once tasting begins!
