Casc-ale

I grow Cascades hops in southern Wisconsin, and this is a harvest
celebration American pale ale for September.

Beer: Casc-ale Style: American Pale Ale
Type: All grain Size: 6.0 gallons
Color:
22 HCU (~12 SRM)
Bitterness: 33 IBU
OG: 1.052 FG: 1.012
Alcohol: 5.2% v/v (4.1% w/w)
Water: Water is filtered through a charcoal cannister and left to aerate overnight before the brew.
Grain: 9 lb. Belgian pale
1 lb. Belgian CaraVienne
2 lb. British crystal 50-60L
Mash: 72% efficiency
Boil: 1 hour 10 min. minutes SG 1.042 7.5 gallons
Hops: 1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (6% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Cascade (aroma)
Yeast: I use the old standby of the microbrewery, 1056 or the Chico strain.
Carbonation: The ale is Corny kegged and served on a British beer engine in my basement. Carbonation level is low, for obvious reasons!
