This is based on a very old recipe.
The S.G. was brought down from 65 to 54 to
allow for shorter turn around.

Type: Partial mash Size: 5 gallons
Color:
70 HCU (~28 SRM)
Bitterness: 18 IBU
OG: 1.054 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 5.2% v/v (4.1% w/w)
Water: 2 tsp baking soda added.
Grain: 3 lb. British brown
4 oz. British chocolate
1.5 lb. Flaked oats
1.5 lb. Flaked wheat
4 oz. scottish smoked malt
Mash: 80% efficiency
1hr mash of specialty grains at 155.
Boil: 45 minutes SG 1.091 3 gallons
2.25 lb. Light dry malt extract
Irish moss at 10.
Hops: 1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 18 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham and Whitbread
