Type: Extract w/grain Size: 5 gallons
Color:
15 HCU (~10 SRM)
Bitterness: 90 IBU
OG: 1.084 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 9.0% v/v (7.1% w/w)
Water: Use tap water that has bypassed softener and kept for at least a week in order for it to de-clorinate.
Grain: 6 oz. American crystal 40L
2 oz. Cascade Hops
Steep: Put Cascade whole hops and Crystal 40L into grain bag. Add to cold water in kettle. Bring temp to 170F and hold until steep has been 30 min.
Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.140 3 gallons
9 lb. Light malt extract
1 lb. Light dry malt extract
1 lb. Corn sugar
8 oz. Malto Dextrin
Whirlfloc added at last 5 min of boil (1 tablet)
Hops: 2 oz. Magnum (14.4% AA, 90 min.)
1 oz. Simcoe (12.6% AA, 45 min.)
1 oz. Columbus (13.9% AA, 30 min.)
1 oz. Simcoe (aroma)
2 oz. Centennial (aroma)
Yeast: 1056 Wyeast American Ale
Log: Dry Hop 3 oz Columbus, 1 oz Centennial, and 1oz Simcoe into secondary after 7 days of fermentation.
Carbonation: Bottle codition with 4 oz Corn Sugar as priming agent
