A boldly hopped brown ale brewed for apres ride refreshment for the summer mountain biking season.

Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
40 HCU (~19 SRM)
Bitterness: 88 IBU
OG: 1.060 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 6.0% v/v (4.7% w/w)
Water: Tap water with 1 Tbs each 5.2 stabilizer and gypsum.
Grain: 9 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. American crystal 60L
6 oz. American chocolate
4 oz. American victory
Mash: 80% efficiency
153F for 60 minutes. Pull a 1 gallon decoction, add to 1 gallon boiling water, allow mixture to boil and reintroduce to mash. Sparge with 170F water to collect 7.5 gallons in brewpot.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.044 7.5 gallons
8 oz. Brown sugar
Hops: 1 oz. Magnum (14.7% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Simcoe (12.2% AA, 10 min.)
1 oz. Columbus (13.9% AA, 10 min.)
Yeast: White Labs 001
