Ichabod's Oatmeal Pale Ale

Brewed to match wits with my Headless Horseman Imperial Pumpkin Ale.

Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color:
14 HCU (~9 SRM)
Bitterness: 65 IBU
OG: 1.068 FG: 1.014
Alcohol: 7.0% v/v (5.5% w/w)
Water: 1 Tbs 5.2 mash stabilizer and 2 tsp gypsum added to tap water.
Grain: 10 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. German Munich
8 oz. American crystal 40L
1 lb. 8 oz. Rolled oats
2 oz. Special Roast
1 oz. American chocolate
Mash: 78% efficiency
Dough in at 1.2 quarts per pound at 168°F. Hold at 153°F for 45 min. Pull a 1 gallon decoction and add it to 1 gallon boiling water. Once boiling, stir the decoction back into the mash. Hold at 162°F for 10 minutes then sparge with 170°F to collect 7.0 gallons in brewpot.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.053 7.0 gallons
Hops: 1 oz. Centennial (11.7% AA, 60 min.)
.5 oz. Citra (12.0% AA, 30 min.)
.5 oz. Citra (12.0% AA, 15 min.)
1 oz. Columbus (dry hop) (aroma)
Yeast: Safale US05
Log: 7-10 days primary at 65F.
7 days secondary with Columbus dry hops.
Carbonation: Keg and force carbonate.
Tasting: This mash was VERY slow to lauter... maybe some rice hulls next time around.
