This is my first tray at an amber ale and it turned out much lighter than the color noted by the recipator

Grain: 8 oz. American crystal 60L
Steep: grains were steeped in a grain bag for 40 min. while bringing the water to a boil. Pulled grains when the water reached 170F
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.073 3 gallons
3 lb. 5 oz. Amber malt extract
2 lb. Amber dry malt extract
Hops: 1 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 60 min.)
1 oz. Willamette (5% AA, 5 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham Dry
Log: Dry hopped with 1oz. of willamette in the keg.
Carbonation: force carbonation in the keg
