Bier De Flippy

Brewed in the tradition of Farmhouse Ales with a little more hop flavor and aroma. One of the original lawnmower beers!

Bitterness: 31 IBU
OG: 1.064 FG: 1.010
Alcohol: 6.9% v/v (5.4% w/w)
Grain: 1.45 lb. Belgian Munich
5.9 oz. Belgian aromatic
0.61 lb. British crystal 70-80L
0.93 oz. Belgian chocolate
3.9 oz. Roasted barley
Mash: 85% efficiency
Mash Specialty grains in 1.5 gal water at 150° for 90 minutes.
Sparge with 5qts of water at 170°.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.140 2.5 gallons
6 lb. Amber malt extract
1 lb. Amber dry malt extract
Use Irish Moss to clarify in the boil at 45 minutes.
Hops: 0.48 oz. Liberty (4.5% AA, 60 min.)
0.96 oz. First Gold (11.4% AA, 60 min.)
0.96 oz. Styrian Goldings (5.5% AA, 60 min.)
0.48 oz. Challenger (9.6% AA, 30 min.)
Yeast: I used White Labs WLP565 Belgium Saison Yeast. First time using this strain. This one should be kind of spicy with the hops that I used.
Carbonation: Bottle using 5 oz. corn sugar.
