Grain: 1.75 lb. British pale
1 lb. British crystal 50-60L
3 oz. Roasted barley
Mash: 65% efficiency
Single infusion, typical
Boil: 75 minutes SG 1.034 6 gallons
3 lb. Light dry malt extract
Irish moss. At one point a grasshopper fell into the boil -- I fished it out pretty quick. I don't think it contributed to the final flavor, but you can try throwing a grasshopper in for about 30 seconds if you want.
Hops: .75 oz. Kent Goldings (4.5% AA, 60 min.)
.75 oz. Kent Goldings (4.5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: WLP028 Edinburgh Ale -- no starter. Just let it sit at room temp for a few hours and then pitched it.
Log: The usual 2 stage ferm. at +/- 66 degrees.
Carbonation: 4.5 psi at 66 degrees for 8 days
Tasting: Mmmmmm. As they say in Scotland, "Muy delicioso"
